Frequently Asked Questions

Q. How do I book an appointment?
  A. Typically individuals schedule an appointment by selecting the 'schedule an appointment' link on the left navigation bar. Clients prepay for the consultations they would like. The client then gets an immediate email confirmation of their purchase. Shortly thereafter they then receive an email from me and we work out a time that is convenient for them to visit via telephone. Many clients usually book a few sessions to help iron out and get some guidance with issues they are facinng. Some clients do many sessions or sessions intermittantly over time as they need consultation. Each client is different, for this reason I offer clients the ability to book 30min session, which they can combine or use over time on an as needed basis.

Q. Does telephone counseling work?
  A. Consultations via telephone can be a quick and confidential way for individuals to talk to a licensed professional that otherwise would not be able to find one that fits their values and morals in their immediate area. Research literature is forthcoming but preliminary studies indicate that phone coaching is effective. I've provided three articles on such here.

Q. What is phone coaching/consulting?
  A. Phone coaching is a new modality of helping people resolve life and relationship issues. It utilizes the power and convenience of the technology to allow simultaneous (synchronous) and time-delayed (asynchronous) communication between an individual and a professional. The focus varies from client to client. Some clients will want to discuss interpersonal relationships, or learn new ways of dealing with stress and other issues they are facing. Other clients may use it an adjunct to other types of real-world services, or to help clarify issues they are currently working on. Still others will use phone coaching to 'check-in' from time to time with an objective third-party professional to take stock in their life and get a few brief questions answered.

Q. How does the blog work and what is it about?
  A. The blog is simply an anonymous forum for individuals to post questions on various issues they would like responses to. This blog is intended to be a dynamic online column that provides a venue that is a safe and confidential and serves as an “advice column” for users worldwide to ask questions of a licensed LDS therapist. This blog service is free and I answer questions as they are presented and as time permits.
